Exodus and the Church of the Living God

When a person embarks upon living for God, there are no automatics. We do not automatically become born into the kingdom of God. It takes a sincere effort of repentance and seeking Him as well as the submission to baptism in the wonderful name of the Savior, Jesus Christ. These things cannot be taken for granted because Jesus said a man must be born of Water and Spirit. Water meaning baptism and Spirit meaning receiving the Spirit of God, just the way it was as a biblical example Acts 2:4. We can realize that the Old Testament shows and gives way to the New Testament plan of salvation. The plan hidden in the Old Testament lets us know when we are on the right track.

The Old Testament held types and shadows that pointed toward the way to come for the future people of God. When the Hebrews were delivered out of Egypt, (Egypt being a type of the World) they needed a savior to show the plan and lead them. This savior was instead of God to them. He was to be the example of Jesus Christ, whom men must follow to avoid destruction. Moses was that savior. First Moses commanded Pharaoh to let the people go. Pharaoh was likened to satan, the enemy of God and His people in the world.

Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Moses the deliverer of Israel was on the back side of the desert of Median for forty years. Before Jesus’ ministry began, He was in the wilderness for 40 days, fasting.

Though this “king of the world”, depicted as Pharaoh of Egypt was reluctant to let the people go from his domain with just a request would later surrender to the strong arm of God to let God’s people go. His hold would be destroyed by the death of his own first born and that of all Egyptians, but only completely by fire, smoke and water. Once Moses great works of freedom from the worldly task master was achieved, the people would be required to follow his leadership, just as men follow God’s leadership through Jesus Christ today.

Prior the death of the first born of Egypt the Jewish people under Moses’ instruction prepared a Passover lamb. They were passed over or excluded from death of the first born by the blood of the Lamb. Jesus Christ is called the Lamb. The blood of the sacrifice was placed upon the door of their dwelling to protect the people from the angel of death just as the blood of Jesus protects the door to our hearts from spiritual death in washing our sins away.

He came to sacrifice His life’s blood In the first Passover, the untimely trial and death of Jesus Christ was also done quickly, and by it removed the sin for mankind. Leaven or yeast is symbolic of sin, and quickly was God’s remedy for sin established through the application of the blood of Jesus Christ in water baptism. This is why the Apostle Peter said: Act 2:38 … Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

(Act 2:39) For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. Moses led them by a pillar of smoke by day and fire by night. This was symbolic of the smoke that is the Shekinah glory of the LORD, the same as appeared in Solomon’s temple. The Fire was as the fire of the Holy Ghost which appeared on the day of Pentecost, as it fell upon the apostles and others who waited in an upper room. They were told to wait for power from on high. That power in the pillar of cloud protected the people from the Egyptian army as they approached and the fire illuminated their way.

The people of Israel marched to the Red or Reed sea that parted by a miracle from God the people went through the water accompanied by a strong wind, that caused the sea to part. It was as though they were baptize going down into the water of escape and blessed by the wind that brought the miracle of the parted waters. We are baptized through the water accompanied by the gift of the wind symbolic of the Holy Ghost. Jesus said: . John 3:8 The wind blows* where it will*, and thou hear* the sound thereof, but can* not tell where* it come*s from*, and where* it goes*: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. (*denotes updated words)

The miracle of the water also slew the enemies of the people, just as the Archangel Michael and his angels defeated and vanquished satan and his demons from heaven.

Rev 12:7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, Rev 12:8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.

The symbolic baptism, slays the works of the spiritual enemy, satan and his cohorts, and our own sinful works. By it we are set free from the wages of sin. After which the prophetess Miriam led the Praise and worship as the people gave thanks giving for the wonderful works of God. In Acts, we see that after the Holy Ghost was poured out with the evidence of speaking in tongues, the words that they spoke were understood as words that gave glory to the great works of the LORD.

, Act 2:11 Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.

Later the people will also be required to follow God’s given leader. Their lack of respect and obedience to the Prophet that the LORD had chosen caused terrible consequences later. The scripture says the servant of the LORD is worthy of double honor as well as not to “touch”, meaning do verbal or otherwise harm to His people or prophets. Num 21:7, Num 16:32 ect.

In the wilderness the scripture says, Moses gave them manna, bread from heaven. Jesus said: I am the bread that came down from heaven. He said he which was the bread of life because he was a sacrifice that after it was offered, was eaten by the people and the priest. They received bread in the form of Manna and also were sent quail to strengthen and sustain them for the journey. As Jesus said my words are spirit, and they are life so the apostle also said that the word of God was also meat.

Therefore the words sent and spoken by Jesus Christ are bread, meat. They received bread and meat in the wilderness for the journey, just as we must stay in the word for our journey. Notice, they could not store or save the manna for another day, they were instructed to partake of it freshly daily. In this way, it did not spoil. The manna was symbolic of the word received from heaven daily from the LORD. Just as Jesus Christ is the living word send down from heaven. We are to partake of Him daily in prayer, in bible reading, and in attendance to services where His word is preached.

Moses was a man; Jesus was also a man, He was instead of God to us that we could follow everything that He said, knowing that it was truth. He, however was God on earth, and not a type or symbol of God. He was Emmanuel. As Moses held planted the stake with a snake on it as deliverance from the snake in the place where they were living, Jesus was also hung on the cross as a type of that which brings harm to mankind. Our flesh which was initially deceived by the snake in the garden. By looking to the snake, people were healed, or delivered from the sting of sin. By looking to the cross upon which Jesus hung, we are delivered from the sting of sin. We have to stare upon our own sin as they had to look upon the snake in the wilderness. By acknowledging our sin we are saved through baptism and the spirit of God that comes in the name of Jesus Christ.

Afterward they were given a law by which they could secure heaven for their eternal spirit man, as well as the body once united. Jesus has also said to us, if you love me, you will keep my commandments. Therefore the things that Jesus said to us in the word are things that have to be obeyed. It takes our every effort, and as Moses chose men from every tribe, twelve that is, Jesus Chose twelve apostles to carry and inform mankind of the words of the spirit of God, as well as enforce and reprove them by this word. If the word is broken, much as today, man shall not enter into the kingdom of God in heaven. Jesus told Nicodemus that he could not see heaven without being born again. He spoke later stating that if a person will not do the will of the father, which is the spirit of God, he will not be saved.

Therefore this walk with Jesus Christ is a meticulous one. A road upon which there are commandments to be obeyed. Holiness is as he is and we will find this holiness in his word. We will find it written in the letters from the Apostles and those whom the LORD called to propagate the will of God in the earth.

The depiction of Jesus Christ’s suffering is typified by the rock that followed the people through the wilderness. Jesus was stricken or smitten during his trial, and his suffering on Calvary. The rock is Christ Jesus, was not to be stricken a second time. This is the mistake that Moses made; Jesus was to be spoken to, as in requesting the supplying of their need. Once a person has been saved, come through the water filled with the spirit all they have to do is ask the LORD, make a request for their needs to be met. If we ask in faith believing as the word says, we shall receive.

The Apostle Paul said, that rock was Christ Jesus. He is also called a rock of offense and a stone of stumbling. Through this rock, when smitten by Moses with the rod, they received water. On the second occasion the rock was to be spoken to, that they would receive a living spring of water. Jesus Christ was smitten before he hung on the cross before he gave mankind the living water he spoke of to the woman at the well. The second time and subsequent times to receive the times of refreshing of the Holy Ghost, he was to be spoken to, only smitten once by the deeds that led up to and including the cross of Calvary. Men would not thirst again because it was always the same “water” or Spirit of God that would give again the time of refreshing spoken in Joel. The spirit of the Holy Ghost, or Christ in you the hope of glory. Colossians 1:27

In Moses time, the word was called the Old Testament, law, or old will of God, now we live by the new will of God. Both were to be obeyed for the time in which mankind lived. In the Old Testament, if a man did not obey certain laws, the scripture said He would be cut off from his brethren. In the New Testament if a man will not walk in the newness of life, by the word of God, they will not be saved. Though many seek an anything goes religion, this cannot be proven by the word of God.

We must live, walking in holiness as defined by Jesus Christ and the Apostles. We cannot get it but by the door or baptism in Jesus Name, and infilling of the Spirit that comes in Jesus name. No one was every baptized in the Bible day another way than in the name of Jesus Christ. All waited on receiving the Holy Ghost speaking in tongues. This is the manner in which mankind comes through the door of Jesus Christ to get to the Father, or the Spirit of God that created all things.

During the tenure of travel in the wilderness, the people were so unfaithful that they were forced through a time of testing in which many died so that only the ones that were not a part of the traditional religion that caused them to make a golden calf. They returned to their tradition with the golden calf being the holiest god of Egypt. Further, they were pilgrims in the land in which they lived and traveled through. Today’s Christian is just passing through this world to reach heaven.

Moses’ father in law encouraged him to divide the work of counseling and teaching the people about the LORD. This could compare the ministries in the church of prophets, since all of the leaders of the tribes were touched by the Holy Ghost and prophesied in the camp. In the New Testament church there are also Apostles, teachers, preachers, pastors etc. for the perfecting of the saints.

He received the ten commandments as the apostles received inspiration for the epistles. With a visional leadership under Gods direction keeps the people from sin, and away for the lust of the world as they did with the golden calf. Not taking these things for granted, but following an Old Testament example into a New Testament Church can bring salvation to men and women of today. Your salvation, don’t take it for granted, believe as the prophets spokeMoses and the Ten Commandments
