For Better Things Ahead

As we find ourselves at another new year, there are many expectations of hope for better things ahead. Many gather at parties, with relatives and friend and create great rackets of joy and explosion of fireworks, noise makers, and even shooting bullets, to signify that great things have come, another chance at joy.
Of course there are the promises for better behavior in the future which often are forgotten as the year goes on. But, the greatest promise that each New Year brings is the promise of the coming of the LORD.

Though many scoff at this event, they are not different than those in Bible days that scoffed at the event that the prophets said would occur. As each dispensation ended with a judgment of God, such as the times of Noah, there were those who had no heart for God who did not believe that the flood would come. They continued their lives just as they had before, not believing that anything would change. They continued to chase merriment, joy, amoral behavior and whatever they pleased, until the drops of rain began to fall.

As they continued and would not stop, they must have realized the danger for their lives, their families and friends, and even the animals. These were all destroyed because they did not believe the word that the LORD sent to warn them that this judgment was coming.

Great fun they had until a holy righteous God cast their lives and evil ways of forgetting Him behind his back, and made an end of their activities. If the righteous scarcely be saved, the scriptures say where the ungodly will or the ones, who live their lives without a thought of the will of God, be.

Salvation is not worldly goods, and we see when JESUS spoke of the beggar at the door of the rich man. It has little or nothing to do with mans accomplishments, yet this world was created for the Joy that it would bring the LORD, Just as our creations are.

Throughout the Bible, or Word of God, the LORD has made different promises whether good or bad. Each time, few have believed, and many have not only to find in the end, whatever He sent his prophets to say; came true.
Christianity is service to a living Spirit. It is not just our service to our fellowman, yet that service is included. But the main service, love , loyalty and compassion shall be rewarded, only if it is directed to the God in whos image we are created, first and foremost,

We, being in His image can rely on our own feelings to help us understand some things about the LORDs personality, as well as including his guide book, the holy bible. When friends and family ignore us, or dont seem to care, we are hurt, even angered. In most cases, there is no reward to them, from us.

When we are offered gifts without concern as to whether they could even please, or always given things with a selfish motive we are not pleased. It is thought to count. How can we expect great rewards for half hearted love to the Savior. He is the one who bought us with his own suffering.

If we go on a job, and serve half heartedly, we can expect to be fired, not receive a bonus. We will receive what we have given. In many cases, what makes a person special is not just what they do. Or dont do, it is the Spirit in which they do a thing. Service to the LORD offered with true love from the heart of man is what has the potential to be accepted by the God who knows all concerning all things and the heart of mankind.
