20And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he whist not that the LORD was departed from him.
Like Sampson, many Christians do not protect the truth within them as a precious gift or privilege that cost our LORD so much. Often we do not consider that this gift of His Spirit is precious to Him as well, and like Sampson, we dwell among God’s people yet living our lives as if the LORD is not our LORD. Once away from God’s people some might say:
*It matters not How strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate
I am the captian of my soul
not realizing because of our own headiness that the Spirit of the LORD has left.
The we often wonder just where the LORD is, an why He does not come to our rescue when we feel He should. Often we are angered, or feel that we are being rejected. Sometimes we console ourselves by believing that it’s just not the will of God, or that He doesn’t care.
But the concern of the LORD for us, Black, white or
brown is not based on who are what we are, but our relationship to Him, as well as our faith to serve him in truth. It is based on our desire to become more Spiritual than carnal. It is based on our placing our hope and treasures with Him, trusting and loving Him, and not the world.
In the story of Sampson, he kept playing with the world. He had little concern for the reason that the LORD had given him this great anointing. He trusted in Himself, and the lust of his flesh. Nothing meant more to Sampson than the lust for the women of the world, and what treasures the world had to bring for Him. It is a rare stance that Sampson ever called on the name of the LORD.
He trusted only in his carnal man and sought to please that man. He cared nothing for his parents who raised him so kindly, but only as life would please his flesh. Even the times that he did strike against Israel’s enemies, were in times of his anger for personal gain or show. He only cared for the Lord at the end of his life, as many do, when there is nothing left to fall on. Then they call upon the LORD in a tight place of their life.
Sampson’s tight place ultimately resulted in his death and loss of power. It was only at this time that he realized his failure before the LORD, and sought this one opportunity to make up the losses of a life time.
