Easter started as a truly wonderful dayThought not in such a material wayIt began when Jesus Christ cared for us so muchThat He gave His very life away!

He didn’t do it for fun and gamesOr to see if He could make the skies darkOr make it Thunder and rainBut God so love the world He sought to cleanWith the blood of His son Jesus, the blood of a king

So Jesus on Calvary Cross died by the hate of manGiving His earthly life, for a time it did endThat In the power of His Spirit He took the keysOf death and punishment putting satan on his knees

So on that very first Easter morn He aroseAnd victory over sin then was composed Of the blessed Love of Jesus ChristBringing men from darkness into His marvelous light!

Then ascended Himself to heaven to stayOn God’s throne of power ‘til the dayWhen all wickedness shall be placed under his feetAs he judges the world bringing enemies defeat

You see rabbits and colored eggs to some are alrightAnd candy, new clothes and egg hunts delightBut we must know Easter’s meaning so trueThat he came to bring all happy life anew

Because Jesus died, now from sin we are cleanedAnd our hearts are filled with the spirit of a kingFor colored eggs candies and clothing by farCan’t tell the story of Easter and how things really are.
