Though it has just passed, Resurrection Sunday celebration is heralded as the time that Jesus Christ , after a grueling and brutal beating suffered a humiliating death on a cross of Calvary This execution was the worst that the Roman government could impose upon a person, and it was for the worst of crimes, including treason and murder. Jesus, however, was guilty of no crime, but was yet the victim of envy of the Church rulers of the Jewish church of that day. Jealousy, the bible says is as the grave. The LORD knew this when He sent Jesus Christ to walk the earth. He knew that the Jewish leaders would be jealous of the many good works that Jesus was doing and would cruelly want to put Him away. They wanted all of the attention to be on themselves, as an Joseph’s brother in the book of Genesis felt, it would be better for these sons of Abraham, to kill, have killed, or sell their brother because of his good works.
Christmas is the largest and most celebrated holiday of the year, but yet Easter is the most important of Christian holidays. King Solomon said; Ecclesiasties_7:1 A good name is better than precious ointment; and the day of death than the day of one’s birth. This is so because the day of death has with it the rewards of life. If we have done well then the day of death has proven and surmised what we have done, and the reward that is forth coming. Such a thing to celebrate, but the reason for celebration is the gift that Jesus gave to us. The harsh ending of this great man is the embodiment of a wonderful gift. He offered to replace all of our wrong with his right.
In the case of Jesus Christ, though angels sang to announce his birth, he proved to have a very important death that would benefit all mankind. The sum total, yet though his deeds are continuous, works of Jesus Christ are these that give peace, joy, hope yet most of all salvation and relationship with the God of the universe. He provided these things and more for mankind at a great price to himself. This great sacrifice of Calvary’s cross, humiliation, abandonment and pain bought joy and pleasantries for us. Therefore it is fitting that we not take the partaking of the blood, as in wine, or the body of Jesus Christ, delivered in the bread of communion lightly. This is a time where we signify a joining to Jesus Christ in order to receive again the beauty of salvation. This act strengthens us in spirit helping us to become more like his as by the yoke of the spirit. This helps provides a priceless escape for the damnation of hell. These things we receive because of the broken body, and the shed blood of Jesus Christ.
The scripture says that the taking of the LORD’s Supper is a reminder of Jesus Christ suffering each time that it is done. This causes us to remember that Jesus died and suffered for us in particular as we are taking part is his body and blood personally. In this we remember he died for us personally. He died for you, and me, and the Lord’s supper is a reminder of the sacrifice made. Because it was such a great sacrifice, we ought to make sure that we are worthy of this gift. We must search our hearts and repent of the things we find that will not please the LORD. When we do we are making ourselves worthy of the blood and body of Jesus Christ. We are joined to his just as in baptism, and we can also feel deliverance of the deliverance that Calvary purchased for us.
The book of John says, in the beginning, the word, or Jesus Christ, became flesh and dwelt among us. After a time of ministry and teaching, the eleven men were sent out to build the church of the Living God on Earth. May your will be done on earth, as in heaven, the LORD’s prayer says. Jesus became it’s beginning for the kingdom of God here. With triumph over death, made unselfishly for us. In this love package of triumph, wrapped in joy and peace, the sting of death and hell was eliminated. All men have now the opportunity to spend eternity with God in what man call, as a better place, or heaven.
Though many prefer to see this as a fairy tale, his presence is in the hearts of so many.
A time of reunification and dedication to the LORD. A time of repentance to be joined to the LORD all over again. Communication is a very holy atonement. It is not to be entered into lightly. We must be very serious about communion because it causes us to join into the this broken body and poured out blood that Jesus sacrificed for us. 1Co 11:23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:
1Co 11:24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
1Co 11:25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
1 Corinthians 11:30 That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep. Living and serving the LORD is very serious. Though in these days people see everything as for themselves, and that they are number one, the only way in which to receive a reward from the LORD in his service is that we realize that He is number ONE, and that our service calls for us to be servants to this number ONE.
Included in the sufferings of Jesus was that of a spiritual nature. As men souls released from the body are promised a judgment, Jesus bearing the sins of the whole world as he approached judgment would also have to bear the punishment for those sins, as the scripture says that he went into the depths. of the search for those three days that he was missing from this world. When he did this, because his actual soul was clean and without sin, that he should die was illegal spiritual, and his soul entering was against the agreement of the universe because hell was a judgment for personal sin. Therefore in his own righteousness ascending to that a fiery place, took the keys of death and hell from the devil, and won the final victory. O grave, it is said where is thy victory, and death where is thy sting. These torments were won by Jesus Christ who suffered in his own personal innocence for the sins of the world.
One last interesting point is that while Jesus was paying for our sins on the cross, he looked and the men who were impaling him, and said Father forgive them, they know not what they are doing.
This was a very pleasant expression for one who was suffering so intensely to say to those who are not. Often people offend not knowing or intending to do so. Sometimes people respond in an offensive way, not counting the cost of the pain they are causing now and in the long term. As well as not realizing that no one is often trying to hurt them, or often not realizing that they have hurt others themselves. More fearsome is that more often a person will not realize the retribution from God, himself when they dare intentionally hurt another person. Remember that God is watching and requires of us to forgive others. In this way people do themselves a favor to forgive others. The LORD will not hold our sins against us if we will and the giving up of holding something against another person brings us joy. God bless you.
