One of the greatest things to be thankful for is relationship. From the beginning of time God has shown to us His desire to be in relationship with mankind. In the book of Genesis we see Him, “walking” in the Garden of Eden in the cool of the evening to share time with his image creature, Adam.
What is miraculous is that there had been no cry from Adam of a need to be supplied, or danger, or even just an offer of praise that caused God to come to meet him. It was the true desire of God to spend, as we call quality time, with someone that he loved. Thinking of this we must say as King David did, “What is man, that though art mindful of Him. Yet in the mind of God, He had created in man a space, that longed to be fill with God. The LORD himself longed for the experience of a man, who was His original son even though such a man was created out of only, the dust of the ground.
It was this man Adam, that though he was given a gift to name all of the animals, he had given nothing back to the LORD. He had only to fulfill the God-defined joy of the task laid before him. It was enough to the LORD that Adam would fulfill this task, and desire to be with the LORD when He came calling.
Though it had to be in great disappointment that God sent Adam out of the garden, which had before been a beautiful gift, the LORD did not leave them totally alone. In Adam’s failed holiness, the LORD provided a way to salvage the relationship between God and man. So the LORD would erase the slate clean, and start again.
He provided Noah in attempt to restart a Godly race, and again make the connection between himself and his creation. This would not be the last time that the LORD would show His faithfulness, and start again. Be thankful.
