“If you ask anything I my name, I will do it.”
This scripture is widely quoted within the ranks of Christendom, & the NAME IT & CLAIM IT religion. “Come and serve the Lord Jesus Christ, He’ll give you anything that you want.” Many come for gifts from the Lord, only to find that not a genie’s lamp. Jesus is not a gimme, gimme, gimme God. There are prerequisites that often accompany this ASK ME religion.
First we must believe. The bible says; if one would please God we must believe that He IS, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. First we must believe that He is there, and is the provider of the things that we ask for, not a world force, trees, or positive thinking. Jesus said, all power in heaven and earth is given to me. Then believing that God is, we must also believe that as we humble ourselves to Him, that it is HIS desire to BLESS US! We do not have to be perfect to be blessed by God. Our Lord is very tender and merciful the word of God says. He blesses for HIS NAME SAKE. When the children of Israel went astray as The Lord was leading them to the promise land, scripture teaches that they were not destroyed so that His name would retain glory among the nations. Though they had a sinful heart of unbelief, they were spared because of the mercy of the Lord.
In coming to Jesus, we must be willing to marry Him. To be merged in holiness. Let His thoughts become our thoughts, and in warm embrace of the spirit, desiring his desires. Jesus was a great example of what our desires should be. Yet some never concern themselves with abiding, of living in Him, and Him fully living his life through us. It was to His disciples who fol-lowed Him daily, s u r re n d e r -ing their whole hearts, that He said: If you ask anything in my name, I WILL do it. He had faith in what they would request. He knew that the desire to love this world as a top priority was put aside by them. They were dedicated to Him, and He was dedicated to them. He could trust thier choices that they would no longer ask amiss to fulfill lustful desires.
For us as well being totally sold out to Jesus, we can expect to “ask anything” in the name of the Lord, knowing that He will do it!
When we woo the Lord for many greedily sought fa-vors, we receive nothing from Him. Our deportment is not that of a faithful wife, when we only seek our own. We are not His disciple, and truly He does not know us in the context in which we are presenting ourselves. Only act-ing as the rightful spouse of our Lord, can we boldly seek the favors of the husband of the church.
On the other hand, The Syrophonecian woman was able to receive a “crumb” from the Lord, as she sought healing for her child. Could you believe such a great miracle was only a crumb. Yet Jesus answered her request as no more than a crumb for the dogs (gentiles). If we compare the fruit of the spiritual realm, and the gifts of eternity, with the earthly blessing that she recieved, feeling good in this physical body, is merely a crumb.
Jesus longs to give eternal goods to His bride, not merely the crumbs of mankind’s existence. He knew that those that truly follow Him would desire as He desires. The Lord wants us to delve into the snow whiteness of a holy supernatural relationship with Him. In re-turn for how much we love Jesus, and He is formed in us, our Lord gives to us, more that we can believe.
He is worthy that we should trust Him for our desires, and needs. Consider this; as we walk up to a counter in a store, we do not begin to complain to the clerk of the things that we lack in life. Instead, we greet them (if we are polite), and began to tell them what we desire from them. We do not make a big deal of how tired we are about finances, friends (so called) or other things that may be of a negative nature, but WE SIMPLY ASK. After receiving, we are thankful.
God wants us, as His very own people, to ASK HIM. He is concerned with our burdens, but He wants of to be thankful. Just as we would thank a clerk at the end of the transaction, God wants us to thank Him for what we already have. All is given by Him. Then ask Him for what we need further. The Lord told King David, “behold I have given you all of these things, and if you had needed more, I would have given you such and such”.
